February 16 - 17, 2018
Adventure Stage Chicago presents the first Adventures in Storytelling festival! Stories from tellers of all ages will be on display as you experience the dramas of other people’s lives. Our opening and closing showcases will flaunt professional tellers as they express their personal narratives and more. Jasmin’s Cuentos from the Americas will bring you on a bilingual journey into South America as she proclaims local legends, myths, and folktales. Throughout Saturday, we will feature youth tellers as they flourish in their own adventures. Take part in workshops and learn to grow your own stories with sessions by Scott Whitehair, Emily Lansana, and Earliana McLaurin.
In between performances, audience members of all ages will have the chance to engage in interactive lobby activities, including puppet- and mask-making, a story-themed photo booth, storytelling prompts, DIY comic books, listening booths, and even the world’s only bike-pulled open mic stage hosted by Do Not Submit Chicago. Each audience member will also have the chance to earn a complementary book to take home. This two-day event is fun for the whole family so stop by for the entire festival or just a few hours!
Events range from FREE to $5, with our opening and closing performances at $17. Workshops offered at $30.
This festival is encouraged for all ages.
